About Marie Donnison

My creativity and style of art is based on my love of nature. I was fortunate to be gifted a scholarship at the Learning Connexion which set me on the road to creative self-discovery and a Diploma (Honours).  As a British/New Zealander my inspirations tend to come from the Impressionist movement as well as artists such as William Morris, David Hockney and Henri Rousseau.

My art work comes from studying flora and fauna, using bold brushwork, vivid colours and textures.  My paintings evolve through intuition and stacking layers of designs and textures, to create a sense of harmony and order, through a stylised lens, creating a contemporary twist to traditional folk art.

I like to bring a lighthearted, playful and whimsical approach to my paintings, as this gives me a sense of joy, satisfaction and contentment.
